Packages sent via airmail can take from six to nine weeks; those sent by surface mail take around six months. When sending packages it is better to keep it small and use a padded envelope so it will be treated like a letter.
Make sure to number your letters and write “Airmail” on the envelopes. At times mail arrives out of order. I will only be able to receive mail once a month when a PC staff member brings it by, so don’t be alarmed if I’m not able to respond right away. Volunteers in South Africa do not receive duty-free privileges, so be aware that I might be charged duty on items that I receive in the mail.
